Holly is a tree that can be found in most areas of the US. This bowl was turned while the wood was still green. As the wood dried the wood moved and the bowl ended up with a slight oval shape that was intended and not a mistake. The bowl is finished with food safe finish and can be used as a food dish. Wooden or plastic utensils are highly recommended. The bowl may be hand washed in warm soapy water, rinsed, dried and put away. It is not microwavable and should not be used for extended refrigerated storage. The finish does not have to be renewed as is needed for walnut oil or similar finishes.
