Big leaf maple trees grow only in the American Northwest and Ontario Canada Southwest. The wood has a very distinctive and prominent grain pattern. This piece has been coated with 4 coats of tung oil finish and may be used as a vase. The finish is not formulated to withstand protracted exposure to water so a glass or plastic liner is needed to hold the water to avoid damage.
