#1580 9 3/4” W X 2 1/2” Deep Ambrosia Maple Bowl Ambrosia maple is simply maple that was exposed to ambrosia beetles which bored into the wood. As they did so, they left behind a fungus that stained the wood and left stained the wood with the long narrow bands. The holes left by the beetles have been cleaned out and filled with copper inlay before any finish was applied. The inlay and the food safe finish used allows this bowl to be used as a serving dish. When used for food, it should be had washed in warm soapy water, rinsed and dried. The finish does not require regular updates as with natural oil finishes. The bowl is not microwavable or dishwasher safe and should not be used for extended refrigerated storage. Wooden utensils are recommended.
