Claro walnut is a tree variety that grows only in the Northwestern area of the US and is not seen often on the East Coast. The wood is darker than black walnut with a more pronounced grain pattern than seen locally. This piece is finished with food safe finish but because of the inclusions it should not be used as a serving dish. It can be used as a candy dish but cleaning should be limited to “damp wipe” cleaning and not washed in the sink. It is not microwaveable or dishwasher safe.
